Yaacov Agam, considered Israel’s most significant artist of contemporary times, has died at the age of 98. He was a leading figure in kinetic art and abstraction, known for works that incorporate movement and viewer participation. Agam’s pieces are internationally recognized, including his “Double Metamorphosis” fountain in Paris’s La Défense district and a fountain titled “Fire and Water” in Tel Aviv. His art is also featured at the Centre Pompidou in Paris. This year, Agam was awarded the Israel Prize for Plastic Arts, the country’s highest artistic honor. His death marks the end of an era for Israeli and international art.
