Between 2014 and 2025, more than 59,000 biological coverages have been produced. These coverages, used to treat severe burns, are partially made with porcine tissue. The tissue undergoes sterilization at the Centro Nuclear Huarangal in Peru. This innovative process prepares the material to be safely used on patients. The Centro Nuclear Huarangal plays a crucial role in ensuring the biological dressings are safe and effective. This production highlights Peru’s advancements in medical material manufacturing and burn treatment. The use of porcine tissue and gamma radiation sterilization is a key component of this treatment.
