Peruvian National Police General Víctor Revoredo revealed that the Criminal Investigation Directorate (Dirincri) alerted US security agencies as early as 2018 about the high-ranking position of Héctor Rusthenford Guerrero, also known as ‘Niño Guerrero’, within a transnational criminal organization. This information was also shared with other international partners. Guerrero is allegedly a key figure in the “Tren de Aragua,” a notorious criminal group originating in Venezuela. The warning predates recent heightened attention surrounding the group’s activities and expansion across Latin America. Revoredo’s statement highlights Peru’s early efforts to inform international authorities about the threat posed by Guerrero and the network. The disclosure comes amid ongoing discussions regarding potential extradition requests and collaborative efforts to dismantle the criminal enterprise. This proactive communication underscores Peru’s commitment to regional security cooperation.
