Peru’s National Jury of Elections (JNE) has upheld a significant fine against the Juntos Por el Perú political party. The party was penalized with a fine of S/181,500 (approximately $48,875 USD) for irregularities in its 2021 campaign financing. The JNE determined that Juntos Por el Perú, led by Roberto Sánchez, failed to adequately verify the sources of funds used during the electoral campaign. As a result of the ruling, the party will also experience a 10% reduction in its direct public funding. The decision confirms previous findings regarding the party’s financial oversight deficiencies. This penalty underscores the JNE’s commitment to enforcing campaign finance regulations in Peru. The ruling was first reported by Lima Gris.
