Peru’s megaport of Chancay has surpassed $3.5 billion in exports within its first year of operation, according to reports. Chinese Ambassador Song Yang highlighted that the port has generated over 1 billion soles in tax revenue for the Peruvian state. The port, inaugurated last year, is rapidly becoming a significant trade hub for the country. This milestone underscores the growing economic relationship between Peru and China, with the ambassador emphasizing the positive financial impact. The increased export activity is expected to further boost Peru’s economy and strengthen its position in international trade. Officials anticipate continued growth in both export volume and tax revenue in the coming years as the port expands its capabilities and attracts more shipping lines.
