Greece’s Health Minister, Thanos Plevris (Γεωργιάδης), has referred Giorgos Patoulis, the Regional Governor of Attica, to the National Transparency Authority (Εθνική Αρχή Διαφάνειας) for investigation into his companies. This action follows initial findings from MedWatch, a system monitoring healthcare advertising. MedWatch discovered 119 violations in dental practices concerning hyaluronic acid and Botox treatments. Advertising for medical procedures in Greece has decreased by 91% following increased scrutiny. The investigation focuses on ensuring compliance with advertising regulations within the healthcare sector. These initial results from MedWatch signal a strengthened effort to regulate healthcare marketing practices in Attica and across Greece. The Transparency Authority will now conduct a full audit of Patoulis’ business interests.
