A passenger ferry carrying around 270 people is sinking north of Cyprus, according to Turkish-Cypriot media reports. The vessel reportedly went down two kilometers off the coast of Kyrenia shortly after departure, taking on water in the bow. The mayor of Kyrenia has confirmed the incident, describing the situation as serious. As of now, 160 individuals have been rescued from the water and are being brought ashore, according to Hurriyet. Poor weather conditions preceded the accident. Rescue teams are currently en route to the scene to assist in the ongoing operation. The full extent of casualties remains unknown.
