Acodeco, Panama’s consumer protection agency, has recorded a significant rise in complaints regarding money refunds from real estate companies. Between January 2020 and June 2026, a total of 785 complaints related to refund requests were filed, totaling over B/.11 million. This issue has become a leading source of conflict between property buyers and developers. The data indicates a consistent pattern of disputes centered on financial returns. Acodeco data shows that refund complaints are the most frequent type of grievance registered against the real estate sector. The increasing number of cases highlights a need for greater transparency and accountability within Panama’s property market. This trend is predicted to continue impacting consumer confidence within the real estate industry.
