The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has instructed universities across Pakistan to guarantee a smooth and transparent administration of the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) on September 20. This exam is a mandatory requirement for aspiring medical and dental students in Pakistan, with approximately 200,000 candidates vying for roughly 25,000 available seats. This year, 138,158 candidates are registered to take the MDCAT, which will be administered in 35 cities and towns throughout Pakistan, and also in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. PMDC President Prof Dr Rizwan Taj emphasized the importance of integrity, echoing directives from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for a fair and orderly process. The meeting included a review of preparations nationwide, focusing on medical support, emergency response, and security at examination centres—including those serving candidates from Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Universities and provincial authorities were urged to ensure centres are fully equipped, and the PMDC has provided standardized exam papers.
