Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has called for an end to ongoing protests in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), expressing concern that the unrest is harming both the Kashmiri cause and Pakistan’s international image. His appeal comes as Pakistan plays a role in mediating a peace agreement between the United States and Iran, placing the country under increased global scrutiny. Bilawal warned that the protests create opportunities for rival nations, specifically mentioning a potential India-Israel alliance exploiting the situation. He urged protestors to peacefully conclude demonstrations and for those involved in unlawful acts to surrender to authorities. The PPP chairman, whose party governs AJK, reiterated a call for the AJK Election Commission to reconsider its planned July 27th election date. Bilawal proposed establishing a Truth and Reconciliation Commission to address grievances and achieve a lasting resolution, emphasizing the need for dialogue within established political and constitutional frameworks.
