Pakistan is implementing a cashless toll collection system on its motorways, aiming to improve efficiency and reduce congestion. The National Highway Authority (NHA) is leading the initiative, which will utilize Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology. Motorists will be required to install RFID tags in their vehicles to seamlessly pass through toll plazas without stopping. This modernization effort seeks to minimize delays, lower operational costs, and enhance the overall travel experience for commuters. The system is expected to be fully operational across the national motorway network within a phased rollout. Authorities anticipate increased transparency and reduced revenue leakage as a result of the new system.
