Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed officials to adhere to agreed timelines for Pakistan’s ongoing privatisation programme. During a review meeting in Islamabad, PM Shehbaz emphasized close coordination between ministries and institutions to achieve all targets. He specifically highlighted the importance of safeguarding the Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited’s (ZBTL) role in agricultural financing, ensuring continued access to loans for small and medium-scale farmers. The premier views agricultural development as critical for economic growth and food security. The programme encompasses 27 state-owned enterprises, implemented in three phases, with financial closing achieved for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and First Women Bank. Officials briefed the Prime Minister on progress and future goals of the privatisation initiative.
