Pakistan’s government has maintained current petrol and diesel prices through July 26th and 27th, citing the unavailability of “Platts prices” over the weekend. This follows increases of Rs3.66 per litre for petrol and Rs4.80 per litre for high-speed diesel implemented on July 25th, bringing prices to Rs335.18 and Rs383.46 respectively. A significant portion of these prices consists of taxes and duties, amounting to Rs110 per litre for petrol and Rs96 for diesel. Prices peaked earlier this year in April, reaching Rs458.41 for petrol and Rs520.35 for diesel, influenced by the US-Iran conflict. The government recently shifted to daily fuel price adjustments in response to international market fluctuations. Previous to daily adjustments, weekly revisions were implemented alongside fuel conservation efforts due to concerns over oil supply disruptions.
