Pakistan women’s cricket captain Fatima Sana has signed a one-year contract to play for Perth Scorchers in the upcoming Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL). The 24-year-old all-rounder will initially be available for the first eight matches of WBBL 12, beginning October 29, with potential for an extended stay dependent on approval from the Pakistan Cricket Board regarding a national team training camp ahead of a potential tour of the West Indies in December. Sana is only the second Pakistani player to participate in the WBBL, following Nida Dar’s stint with Sydney Thunder in 2019. This marks her WBBL debut and follows a prior experience playing for Birmingham Phoenix in The Hundred. Sana expressed her excitement about joining the Scorchers and playing at the WACA Ground. She has over 130 white-ball international appearances for Pakistan and recently achieved a record-breaking half-century against Zimbabwe. Perth Scorchers management highlighted Sana as a promising young all-rounder and are eager to see her contribute to the team.
