Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar announced the arrest of a man accused of disseminating anti-state content on social media in exchange for Indian funding. Authorities allege the suspect, a digital marketing professional, operated a network of misinformation fueled by payments from India. Evidence presented included screenshots of financial transactions and social media posts allegedly designed to incite sectarian violence and undermine Pakistan’s security. The suspect reportedly utilized bot farms to amplify the reach of the damaging content, targeting the government, army, and key institutions. Investigations are now focused on digital payment gateways used for these transactions, with the suspect allegedly confessing to receiving directives related to the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), a recently proscribed organization. The government views this as a deliberate attempt to destabilize Pakistan and harm the Kashmir cause.
