The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has expressed strong disapproval regarding Governor Seyi Makinde’s report of significant losses within the Amotekun security network. This criticism follows the governor’s visit to communities in Oriire Local Government Area affected by recent bandit activity. The area experienced an attack resulting in two deaths and the abduction of approximately 45 schoolchildren and their teachers. Governor Makinde revealed that over 200 Amotekun operatives have been lost, prompting the APC’s response. The opposition party deems this level of loss unacceptable, signaling concerns about security strategies and resource allocation. The incident underscores the escalating security challenges facing the state, particularly regarding banditry and kidnapping. Authorities are currently focused on securing the release of the abducted students and teachers.
