More than 60,000 Bangladeshi pilgrims have returned to Bangladesh after completing the Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, according to the latest report from the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Tragically, 54 Bangladeshi citizens died while performing Hajj this year. Of those who have returned, 4,319 traveled under the government scheme, while 56,269 utilized private tour operators. The Ministry’s report provides a current accounting of the pilgrims’ return and reported fatalities. Details regarding the causes of death were not immediately available. Authorities are continuing to monitor the return process and provide assistance to arriving pilgrims. This year’s Hajj saw a significant number of Bangladeshi Muslims participate in the annual religious journey.
