Following the death of Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, who reigned for 65 years, a dispute has emerged regarding his successor. A viral letter purportedly naming five princes as potential candidates for the Awujale throne has been officially disowned by both the Ogun State government and the Olisa, the traditional kingmakers. Authorities have not confirmed the authenticity of the letter or the process by which the names were generated. This denial casts doubt on the legitimacy of the listed princes and signals a potentially contentious selection process. The Ogun State government and Olisa have yet to release information regarding the official process for choosing the next Awujale. The late Oba Adetona passed away in July of the previous year at the age of 91.
