The National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) is expanding support for young workers entering the job market, particularly as artificial intelligence reshapes industries. The NTUC Youth wing will award 150 bond-free NTUC Starter Awards scholarships this year, a significant increase from previous years. This initiative aims to equip graduating youths with essential skills and opportunities in a rapidly evolving economic landscape. NTUC Secretary-General Ng Chee Meng highlighted the need to proactively address the challenges posed by AI and ensure young people are prepared for future jobs. The scholarships will provide financial assistance, and crucially, do not require a bond, offering graduates flexibility. The move demonstrates the labour movement’s commitment to safeguarding the interests of young workers during this period of technological transition. This increased support is part of broader efforts to assist youth in securing stable and fulfilling employment.
