Norwegian State Railways (Vy) has issued layoff notices to 26 conductors as a direct result of the continuing train strike, according to the Norwegian Railway Union (NJF). The layoffs will take effect from Wednesday, leaving conductors without work. All 13 conductors based in Hamar and 13 out of 25 conductors stationed in Lillehammer are affected by this decision. Union representative Eli Ingeborg Baadstøe-Ostrø stated there is “no way back” from these layoffs. Those impacted will need to seek unemployment benefits from Nav, the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration. The move comes amid a prolonged dispute that has halted train services across the country. This situation highlights the escalating consequences of the unresolved labor conflict.
