A Norwegian historian and royal expert, Trond Norén Isaksen, argues the Norwegian royal family needs to bolster its capacity amid increasing demands on Crown Prince Haakon. He points to the Crown Prince’s heavy workload and a lack of readily available substitutes to fulfill royal duties. This comes as the Norwegian Parliament unanimously agreed to amend the constitution to allow Princess Ingrid Alexandra to serve as regent during the King and Crown Prince’s absences. Isaksen believes Prince Sverre Magnus should also be given an official role to ensure the monarchy’s continued functionality. He suggests this is necessary for the royal house to effectively manage its responsibilities and maintain public presence. The proposed changes aim to secure the line of succession and distribute the workload more effectively within the royal family.
