Norway’s Public Roads Administration is issuing safety alerts to the owners of all 30,000 light motorcycles registered in the country, following years of inspections and a recent investigation by the State Accident Investigation Board. The warnings stem from a concerning trend of serious accidents involving these vehicles, including five fatalities and 35 severe injuries in the past year alone. Authorities report that many light motorcycles are in poorer mechanical condition than owners realize, with common issues including faulty chains, brakes, and tires. These defects can lead to loss of control, particularly in critical situations. A significant number of these motorcycles are operated by young riders aged 16-18, prompting the agency to urge parents and young drivers to inspect their vehicles. This is the first time the Public Roads Administration has directly contacted an entire vehicle group with such a safety message, delivered via Digipost.
