Norway has announced a contribution of 3.1 billion Norwegian kroner (approximately $280 million USD) to the African Development Fund (ADF). The ADF is a key instrument of the African Development Bank, providing concessional loans and grants to the poorest African countries. This funding will support projects focused on poverty reduction and sustainable economic growth across the continent. Norway’s contribution is intended to help ADF-eligible countries address development challenges, including infrastructure gaps and climate change impacts. The commitment underscores Norway’s long-standing partnership with Africa and its dedication to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. This pledge was made as part of the ADF’s fifteenth replenishment round, aiming to secure resources for the 2023-2025 period. The funds will be crucial for supporting vulnerable nations and fostering long-term stability in Africa.
