Judges at the 40th North Sumatra (Sumut) Quran Recitation Contest (MTQ) have reported a significant improvement in the quality of participants’ readings this year. The competition, currently underway in Deli Serdang, demonstrates a higher level of skill compared to previous events. Judges noted advancements in both *tajwid* (rules of Quranic recitation) and *makhraj* (articulation points). This year’s MTQ features participants from across the province competing in various categories. Organizers anticipate the contest will foster a greater appreciation for the Quran and Islamic values within the community. The event continues with further rounds of competition and is expected to conclude later this week. The improved quality signals a positive trend in Quranic studies within North Sumatra.
