Nigeria’s Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has issued a stern warning regarding fraudulent National Identification Number (NIN) registrations. The agency stated that individuals involved in such activities, including registering non-Nigerians, face up to seven years in prison. This warning extends to partners working with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC). The ICPC emphasized the importance of strict adherence to regulations throughout the NIN registration process. The move aims to curb identity theft and ensure the integrity of the national identification database. Authorities are signaling a crackdown on those exploiting the system for illicit purposes. Compliance with established protocols is crucial to avoid legal repercussions, according to the ICPC.
