A recent survey conducted by the Nigeria Agribusiness Data and Investment Hub (NADIH) in partnership with Augmentum Advisory reveals a significant problem with agricultural data in Nigeria. Despite government institutions possessing approximately 70 percent of the nation’s agricultural datasets, the information is largely outdated and unreliable. This lack of current, accurate data is impeding both farmers and potential investors in the agricultural sector. The study highlights a critical gap in accessible, dependable information needed for informed decision-making. NADIH, an initiative of the Lagos Business School, emphasizes the need for updated data collection and management practices. The findings suggest that improving data quality is essential to unlock further investment and growth within Nigeria’s agricultural industry. This issue directly impacts the ability to effectively plan and implement agricultural strategies.
