A former Ondo State lawmaker, Ayodeji Arowele, is suing the Inspector-General of Police and the Nigeria Police Force following his arrest just before the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries. Arowele, an APC aspirant for the Owo/Ose Federal Constituency, alleges the timing of the arrest was deliberately intended to disrupt his participation in the primaries. He is seeking N50 million in damages as a result of the arrest. The lawsuit claims the arrest was unlawful and politically motivated. Details surrounding the reason for Arowele’s arrest have not been publicly disclosed. The case is currently underway, with Arowele seeking redress through the court system.
