Wema Bank of Nigeria has received a €50 million facility from EIB Global, the European Investment Bank’s development branch. This financing aims to increase credit availability for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across Nigeria. A key focus of the lending will be directed towards businesses owned by women and young entrepreneurs. The agreement, finalized in Lagos, represents the first financial partnership between Wema Bank and the EIB. The funds, equivalent to N78.5 billion, are intended to stimulate economic growth by supporting vital SME operations. This investment underscores a commitment to bolstering Nigeria’s private sector and fostering inclusive economic development.
