The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja, Nigeria, is preparing to launch a real-time election readiness tracker by 2027. This innovative system will enable the Commission to instantly monitor election preparations throughout all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. According to INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, the tracker is designed to move away from a reactive approach to election management. The aim is to proactively address challenges as they arise, rather than responding to crises. The new system promises increased transparency and efficiency in the electoral process across Nigeria. The initiative represents a significant step towards improving election administration and ensuring credible polls. It will replace “reactive panic” with proactive preparation, according to Amupitan.
