The facility, comprised of 55 structures, fully processes sludge and generates energy, covering 35% of its internal needs. However, engineers warn that improper disposal habits are leading to an increase in solid waste entering the plant – approximately three tons daily – which risks damaging equipment. A significant amount of non-biodegradable materials, like paper and wipes, are being improperly flushed. The plant operates 24/7 with a staff of 200 and resolves the odor issues present in the former facility. Officials emphasize public cooperation is vital for its effective operation, urging residents to avoid flushing non-biodegradable items down the toilet to mitigate future risks.
