Eleven Senior Provincial Monitoring Officers have been contracted and deployed to Papua New Guinea’s provinces to monitor government initiatives. These officers are part of a larger group of twenty being dispatched across the country, excluding the National Capital District and Bougainville. The Department of Provincial and Local Level Government Affairs (DPLGA) initiated the deployment to improve oversight of programs at the provincial, local level government, and district levels. The SPMOs will be responsible for tracking the implementation of government projects on the ground. This move aims to enhance accountability and ensure effective delivery of services. Access to further details on this deployment is restricted to paid subscribers of the Post Courier.
