Following the implementation of emergency and governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the federal government has established an 11-member technocratic KP Advisory Council to aid Governor Faisal Karim Kundi in governing the province. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar stated the council consists of “competent” individuals, contrasting with the previously PTI-led provincial government. Kifayatullah Khan Khan will oversee the provincial Home Department, bringing experience from roles including KP prisons inspector general and Fata Tribunal chairman. Tariq Mehmood Pasha, former chairperson of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), will manage the province’s financial affairs, having previously served as a close aide to former finance minister Ishaq Dar. Supreme Court Advocate Amir Javed will advise the KP governor on legal matters, while Syed Amir Abdullah will handle education-related issues in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The council also includes Lt Gen (retd) Nigar Johar Khan, adding further expertise to the governing body.
