A new Kiswah, the black cloth that drapes the Kaaba in Mecca, has been installed. Approximately 150 artisans dedicated eleven months to its creation. The Kiswah is constructed from 47 luxurious pieces of black silk fabric. This meticulous process signifies a renewal of reverence for Islam’s holiest site. The new covering replaces the previous one, continuing a centuries-old tradition. The craftsmanship involved highlights the dedication and skill of the artisans involved in maintaining this important religious symbol. The Kiswah is a significant feature of the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
