The Netherlands is preparing for a significant heatwave as the national weather institute KNMI has issued a red code warning for eight provinces. Numerous schools and universities across the country will be closed tomorrow due to the extreme temperatures. Court proceedings are also being postponed in affected provinces, with exceptions made for urgent cases which may be held online. Road authorities are advising against unnecessary travel and urging those who must drive to take precautions like bringing water and sun protection. Universities, including the University of Amsterdam and University of Utrecht, are encouraging remote work and adjusting schedules, though some exams will proceed. Primary and secondary schools have the discretion to close, prioritizing the safety of students and staff. The Central Office for Road Traffic (CBR) has cancelled all driving exams in the red code areas.
