Food and beverage giant Nestlé has announced the sale of its mainstream vitamins, minerals, and supplements (VMS) business to private equity firm Yellow Wood Partners for $1 billion. The divestiture includes brands such as Centrum, Caltrate, and Flintstones Vitamins in North America, as well as some other regions. Nestlé stated this move allows them to focus on core areas including medical nutrition and specialized health solutions. Yellow Wood Partners, known for its focus on consumer health brands, anticipates significant growth opportunities within the VMS portfolio. The transaction is expected to close in the latter half of 2024, subject to regulatory approvals. This sale represents another step in Nestlé’s ongoing portfolio optimization strategy, streamlining its business toward high-growth categories. The deal allows Nestlé to refocus resources and investment in areas with higher potential returns.
