Comparing before-and-after images shows massive mud deposits and a dramatically widened riverbed in the Himalayan valley as a result of the floodwaters. The deluge swept away hundreds of homes, roads, and power infrastructure. As of Thursday afternoon, over 1500 people remain missing and at least 353 have been confirmed dead. The disaster was triggered by the collapse of a portion of a glacier, with a large mass of ice falling into the valley.
