A recent study reveals the devastating impact of recent flooding in Nepal's Kathmandu Valley, Nuwakot District, and Rasuwa District. Analysis of 584 children residing in temporary shelters indicates widespread parental loss due to the Bhotekoshi River floods. Specifically, 41 children have become double orphans, while 161 have lost their fathers and 67 their mothers. This research highlights the urgent need for support and care for vulnerable children in these affected areas. The study underscores the long-term consequences of the disaster, extending beyond immediate physical damage to include significant emotional trauma for children in Kathmandu, Nuwakot and Rasuwa. Relief organizations are facing challenges in providing adequate assistance due to the scale of the crisis in these regions. Authorities are working to ensure these children receive proper care and support in Nuwakot District, Kathmandu Valley, and Rasuwa District.
