The Nepali government has restarted its digital verification process for displaced squatters and informal settlers, expanding the scope to include those not residing in temporary holding centers. Previously, verification efforts focused solely on individuals living in designated shelters. This resumption marks a crucial step forward in the ongoing rehabilitation process for vulnerable populations. Anand Singh Bhat, head of the High-powered Committee for Integrated Development of Bagmati Civilisation, confirmed the expansion. The digital verification aims to accurately identify and document the needs of displaced communities. This broadened approach is intended to ensure more comprehensive support and facilitate long-term solutions for squatters. The initiative seeks to address the challenges faced by those living outside formal camps, offering a pathway towards secure housing and integration.
