The Indonesian Naval Command Region VIII (Kodaeral VIII) has successfully intercepted a smuggling operation originating from the Philippines in the waters of North Sulawesi. Approximately one ton of cyanide was seized, preventing its illegal entry into Indonesia. Authorities suspect foreign nationals from the Philippines were involved in the attempted smuggling. The operation is estimated to have prevented a potential loss of IDR 1 billion (approximately USD 65,000) to the state. Further investigation is underway to determine the intended use of the cyanide and to apprehend all individuals involved. This interception highlights ongoing efforts to combat illegal activities in Indonesian waters and protect national interests. The seized cyanide has been secured for evidence and disposal.
