An American AH-64 Apache attack helicopter crashed over the Strait of Hormuz on Monday. President Donald Trump stated that an Iranian drone struck the cockpit, causing the aircraft to catch fire. Both crew members survived the crash and landed in the waters near Oman. In a historic first, a Corsair unmanned surface vessel was the first to reach and rescue the downed pilots. This marks the first known instance of a maritime drone being used for such a rescue operation. While Tehran has not officially claimed the attack, it stated that its forces respond to enemies with force when necessary.
