Israel’s National Insurance Institute is changing the name of its “Disabled Child Allowance” and is involving the public in the renaming process. After initially soliciting suggestions from citizens, the Institute received 7,000 proposals. These were narrowed down to a shortlist of eight potential names. The public is now invited to vote for their preferred option. The move aims to find a more appropriate and sensitive name for the benefit. The National Insurance Institute hopes the public’s participation will result in a name that better reflects the allowance’s purpose and the individuals it supports. Voting is currently underway to determine the final name.
