Bangladesh Bank has granted National Bank PLC permission to lease Tower-2 of its proposed headquarters building, ‘NBL Twin Tower,’ for commercial purposes. This allows the bank to operate the space as a commercial establishment. Notably, the central bank has provided an exemption until December 31, 2031, from a specific provision within the Bank Companies Act of 1991 to facilitate this arrangement. The decision, made on Tuesday, July 21st, was issued by the Banking Policies and Regulations Department-2 of Bangladesh Bank. This exemption allows National Bank greater flexibility in utilizing its assets. The move underscores Bangladesh Bank’s support for the development of modern banking infrastructure. This supports the bank’s commercial growth strategy.
