Nakuru County Referral and Teaching Hospital (NCRTH) has opened a new optical laboratory to produce spectacles on-site, significantly improving access to eye care. This makes NCRTH only the second public hospital in Kenya, following Kenyatta National Hospital, with this capability. The localized production aims to reduce costs and turnaround times for patients needing glasses. The facility will provide a full range of optical services, including eye testing and lens fitting. County officials highlighted the launch as a major advancement in specialized healthcare within the region.
