A series of crashes on a highway near Győr, Hungary, has resulted in eight fatalities and two injuries. The initial collision involved a truck colliding with a stalled truck already involved in a separate incident – a truck that had crashed into construction equipment and subsequently caught fire, killing the driver. A minibus carrying nine people then crashed into the stalled truck, resulting in seven deaths among its passengers. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán expressed condolences to the families of the eight foreign nationals who died, without disclosing their nationalities. Authorities report both the burning truck and the minibus involved in the second collision were registered in Moldova. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the chain of events. The incident caused significant traffic disruption on the major highway west of Budapest.
