Member of Parliament N.Altanhuyag voiced concerns during a parliamentary session regarding the stalled disbursement of dividends from the Oyu Tolgoi copper mine and the handling of mining legislation. She criticized the government for prioritizing numerous laws during the pre-Naadam holiday period, suggesting it leads to superficial debates and compromises crucial issues. Altanhuyag highlighted the six-year delay in receiving expected dividends from Oyu Tolgoi, despite the mine projecting $5 billion in profits for the current year, potentially yielding $1.5 billion in dividends for the Mongolian state. She argued that amending the shareholder agreement to address loan interest and accumulated interest is crucial to unlock these funds. Furthermore, she criticized the lack of progress on a bill proposed by fellow MP O.Altangerel aimed at confiscating illegally obtained assets. Altanhuyag also expressed support for citizen protests related to Oyu Tolgoi, advocating for a resolution through government collaboration and shareholder agreement revisions.
