Bangladeshi Member of Parliament, Hasnat Abdullah, has publicly challenged the government to investigate allegations regarding a perceived change in his lifestyle. The challenge follows reported “scathing remarks” and accusations from individuals associated with the July Revolution – a reference to a past political movement. Specifically, critics suggested a shift from using rickshaws to travelling by car, implying a sudden increase in wealth. Abdullah responded with strong indignation, accusing influential figures within the government of making these claims. He has offered to resign from his position if the allegations are substantiated through a thorough investigation conducted by intelligence agencies including the DGFI, NSI, and the police. Abdullah maintains his innocence and demands a full and transparent inquiry into the matter.
