Mozambique’s President Daniel Chapo concluded the national Children’s Quincentennial celebrations by appealing for comprehensive child protection as a shared societal responsibility. The President and First Lady hosted children from across the country at the presidential palace for a day of cultural and educational activities. Chapo expressed gratitude to parents, educators, and citizens dedicated to the care and education of Mozambican children, as well as acknowledging the work of social assistance institutions and orphanages. The event commemorated both the International Day of the Child (June 1st) and the Day of the African Child (June 16th). President Chapo emphasized that safeguarding children is a duty for everyone, from parents to caregivers, across the entire nation. He also invoked the legacy of Mozambique’s first president, Samora Machel, highlighting the strategic importance of childhood for national development.
