Mozambique’s Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy (MIREME) has refuted claims of a fuel shortage in Maputo City and across the country. The ministry stated that fuel supply is currently running normally nationwide. Recent long queues observed at petrol stations were attributed to logistical constraints experienced during the extended weekend. Motorists reportedly faced hours-long waits at filling stations due to the temporary disruptions. MIREME assures the public that the situation is under control and there is no need for concern regarding fuel availability. The issue stemmed from logistical challenges, not a lack of fuel reserves. This clarification aims to dispel anxieties about potential shortages in Mozambique.
