Mozambique’s national insurance company, Emose, has disbursed approximately 25 million meticais (roughly $385,000 USD) in compensation to nearly nine thousand farmers over the last two agricultural campaigns. This payout aims to mitigate the impact of extreme weather events on the agricultural sector. Santos Magaia, Emose’s technical-operational administrator, presented the figures, highlighting the company’s increased focus on agricultural insurance. The funds provide crucial support to farmers affected by adverse climate conditions. This initiative demonstrates Emose’s commitment to bolstering resilience within the country's farming communities. The company intends to expand its agricultural insurance offerings further, recognizing its importance to food security in Mozambique. This strategic move seeks to protect farmers and stabilize agricultural production.
