Mozambique’s Minister of State Administration and Public Function, Inocêncio Impissa, marked the nation’s 51st Independence Day by acknowledging past achievements and outlining future goals. He emphasized that the anniversary represents a time to celebrate the dignity, identity, and heroism of the Mozambican people, as well as their ongoing pursuit of development and national sovereignty. Impissa stated that while political independence was secured in 1975, the current priority is achieving economic independence. He believes a robust economy is crucial for generating wealth and improving the lives of citizens, building upon the foundation of political freedom. The minister stressed that this new focus requires a collective effort from all Mozambicans to build a sustainable and prosperous future. He framed economic consolidation as essential for sustaining development gains made since independence. These statements were made during the 25th of June celebrations commemorating Mozambique’s independence.
